Maryland Market Money e-Incentive Pilot

From 2019-2021, the National Association of Farmers Market Nutrition Programs (NAFMNP) developed a technology platform with Novo Dia Group (NDG) to allow states to accept electronic FMNP. This platform is called the TotilPay Incentive Management System (TIMS) and will be utilized to accept Maryland Market Money incentives electronically, instead of physical tokens.

In Montgomery County, with the support of the Greater Washington Community Foundation, Maryland Market Money is transitioning to a tokenless, electronic incentives (e-incentives) digital wallet.

Federal nutrition benefits customers (SNAP/EBT, FMNP-WIC & Senior, and eWIC CVB) may use the MarketLink app to receive their MMM e-incentives, and pay participating vendors at Montgomery County Farmers markets. Vendors will need TotilPay Go (TPG), a mobile point-of-sale system used to accept SNAP/EBT, MMM e-incentives and debit/credit.

UPDATE: During the 2023 Farmers Market season, the MMM e-Incentives Pilot will be expanding to other counties, including Baltimore City and a few Southern Maryland counties. Markets, where the e-Incentives pilot is currently live, can be found below. If your market is interested in transitioning from tokens to MMM e-Incentives, please contact our Farmers Market e-Incentives Coordinator: Kelley Koeppen, eincentives@marylandmarketmoney.org.

Transitioning to a tokenless, electronic platform will provide great benefits to customers, vendors and market managers.

Customers can have their SNAP/EBT and MMM benefits right on their phone and will not need to wait in line to get tokens.

Vendors will receive payment directly to their bank account in 2-3 business days, and will be able to accept multiple benefit programs and debit/credit all on one platform.

Market managers will no longer have to reimburse vendors for tokens spent nor report data, as this information can be extracted from the TIMS system.

For more information about the e-Incentives pilot, please reach out to our Farmers Market
e-Incentive Coordinator Kelley.
